Never let anyone place limitations on you because of your gender, race, or age.  Advise is free for a reason... I had someone tell me {not too long ago} that because of my age, I may not have the same opportunities as someone younger than me may have.  I let her talk her talk, but because I know what I am capable of, it didn't phase me not ONE bit.  When a person tries to bring you down, it is because they are dealing with their own demons, so recognize that and take what they say with a grain of salt.
